Robert Ulney Winters IV In Loving Memory....

Bob How do I remember Bob.... It's been a few years since he and Carol left Urbana for Big Sky country to pursue their dreams but we were all best buds for a long time before that.
Bob was a mellow, laid-back, happy-go-lucky guy. He was filled with an easy going grace, a sparkling, impish grin and dark mischievious eyes. He was Carol's Prince Charming and eveyone else's friend and jester.

We shared happy times camping at Turkey Run, hiking in the woods, playing frisbee, laughing around the campfire and just enjoying life. I remember one particular time when he, our master fire-tender, had coaxed the campfire into a beautiful blaze, fanning it with a rusted cookie sheet abandoned by some careless camper. It started to pour and Bob tried to prop the cookie sheet up to protect his fire. We ended up spending the evening sitting under a tarp on top of a picnic table watching the rain put out our fire. But we laughed and laughed, even in the morning when he and Carol woke up in a puddle on the floor of their big blue canvas tent.

We all spent many evenings together playing D&D, Risk, Civilization, Traveler and endless games of spades, always laughing and having a great time. We shared dinners, parties, "steam-tunneling" and even our weddings. Oh, how he loved Carol.

There simply isn't a bad memory that includes him. It's been a long time since I've seen him in person and I will always regret not getting to say goodbye, but I am convinced he is still here and will always be in the hearts of those who loved him. He was too young to leave us.... He is with the stars now.

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate;
And though I oft have passed them by,
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun
